FreedomPop To Offer Devices, Plans At Target

Los Angeles-based free mobile phone service FreedomPop has scored a major distribution deal with retail chain Target, saying that more than 1,100 Target retail locations will offer up its SIM and Android devices. According to FreedomPop, the move comes as Target is looking to compete against Wal-Mart in offering up low priced wireless service to consumers. FreedomPop said that shoppers can purchase a $4.99 SIM, or a low cost Android handset costing just $59 from FreedomPop, at more than 1,100 of its retail locations and online. FreedomPop said Target is looking to gain a bigger presence in the wireless area, where Wal-Mart currently owns around 15 percent of wireless sales.
