Illumina Opens First Chinese Manufacturing Plant

San Diego-based Illumina said today that it has opened up its first manufacturing site in China, in Shanghai. According to the company, the new facility will allow it to localize production of its gene sequencing instruments and consumables, and is expected to become its third largest production operation globally.
