Kotura Snags DARPA Contract




Monterey Park-based Kotura, which develops optoelectronic components, said this morning that it has inked a five year, $14M development contract with Sun Microsystems, as part of a DARPA contract. According to Kotura, the deal is part of a DARPA program, focused on supercomputing, the DARPA Ultraperformance Nanophotonic Intrachip Communications (UNIC) program. According to Kotura, the firm's technology will be used as part of an on-chip network of low-cost, optical interconnects. Kotura is venture backed by Rockley Ventures, ComVentures, ARCH Venture Partners, GF Private Equity, and Viterbi Group.
