Monrovia-based SeeBeyond (www.seebeyond.com) has been selected by Transamerica Life Insurance Company to integrate Transamerica's information systems. SeeBeyond's Integrated Composite Application Network Suite will be used to connect Transamerica's various legacy information systems.

Evolution Robotics Appoints EMEA GM
Pasadena-based Evolution Robotics announced that Hans-Gunther Brosius has been appointed as the company's VP and GM of Europe, Middle East and Africa. Brosius was most recently at Symantec, where he covered the company's Central and Eastern European channels.

Music Labels, VCs Meet in Court
Reuters is reporting that music labels and publishers are set to face Bertelsmann AG in court next week over claims that investments in Napster cost the industry over $17B in lost sales. Hummer Winblad has also been sued by the industry over its VC investments in Napster.

Broadcom Buys Widcomm for $49M
Irvine-based Broadcom is acquiring San Diego-based Widcomm, a provider of software for Bluetooth wireless devices. Widcomm's software stacks are widely used within the Bluetooth industry, and enable equipment manufacturers to easily implement Bluetooth functionality in their products.

KKR to Acquire PanAmSat for $4.3B
El Segundo-based DirecTV Group has agreed to sell its stake in PanAmSat (www.panamsat.com) for $4.3B to Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.. DirecTV Group was formerly Hughes Electronics, and has been slowly focusing in on its consumer DirecTV satellite TV business. PanAmSat provides global video and data broadcasting services via its satellites, and provides a fleet of satellite and satellite based services, along with satellite procurement and launch support.
