Inphi Receives ISO 9001 Certification
Westlake Village-based Inphi (www.inphi-corp.com) announced that it has received ISO 9001 certification. The certification of its engineering and manufacturing processes means the company has met all of the ISO's standards in quality assurance in product design and development, and is a requirement for being a supplier to many companies.

IOGEAR Introduces Short Wi-Fi Card
Irvine-based IOGEAR (www.iogear.com) has introduced a new 802.11g wireless adapter card for notebooks, designed to make it easy to leave the adapter plugged into machines while travelling. Most WiFi card antennas make it difficult to leave the card plugged in when packed up, and the new design makes it so users do not have to unplug and replug their WiFi connections.

LinkSys Inks Bundling Deal With Comcast
Cisco's Irvine-based Linksys Division has inked a deal with Comcast to provide a Linksys wireless gateway with any broadband signup. The deal calls for Comcast to provide current and new high speed Internet customers with a gateway and up to 5 wireless adapters.

DARPA Funds Optical Network Effort
The Defense Advanced Research Project has funded a team of researchers to the tune of $6.3M to develop new technologies to advance optical router capacity. The team, led by UCSB and including researchers at Santa Barbara-based Agility Communications, Calient Networks, Cisco Systems, JDS Uniphase, and Stanford, will work over the next four years to develop and demonstrate all-optical technologies and systems that route data packets.

Yulex Raises $4.5M
Carlsbad-based Yulex has raised $4.5M from Argonaught Private Equity for its alternative source of natural rubber targeted at the proteins which cause Type I latex allergy. The company is developing alternate compounds to latex for medical and other applications.

DivX Networks Finds $7M
San Diego-based DivX Networks has raised another $7M in venture funding in a Series C round. The round was led by existing investor Zone Ventures, and also included WI Harper Group, Draper Atlantic, Wasatch Ventures, Springboard-Harper, Cardinal Venture Capital, ALi Corp, and Cyberlink International Corp. DivX Networks provides a multimedia codec used for compressing video over broadband connections.

MEMEC Files for IPO
San Diego-based MEMEC has filed for an IPO worth up to $100M. The electronics distributor provides semiconductors and services, includingprogrammable logic devices, analog products, and application specific standard products. Memec had a loss of $86M on nearly $1.8B in revenue in 2003. The offering is being underwritten by CS First Boston, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, and Merrill Lynch.
