SageMetrics, NetRatings Team In Europe
North Hollywood-based web analytics provider SageMetrics said that it has signed an agreement with NetRatings to offer the SageMetrics solutions in Europe. The two will offer SageMetrics web analytics solution to European customers branded as Nielsen/NetRatings Professional. The SageMetrics solution is used by large companies to analyze their web traffic, including determining purchasing patterns, site navigation, effectiveness of e-commerce systems, and more.

Los Angeles-based iolo technologies announced that it has upgraded its System Mechanic software. The company's new System Mechanic 5 and System Mechanic 5 Professional utilities provide Microsoft Windows users with the ability to maintain, optimize, and protect their PCs. The upgraded software fixes common errors in Microsoft systems, helps uninstall software, virus protection, and the ability to undo operations.

Breach Adds SSL Enhancements for Intrusion Detection
Carlsbad-based Breach Security announced a new product, BreachView SSL, an add-on SSL decryption enhancement for intrusion detection systems. The new software makes it possible for intrusion detection systems to monitor SSL traffic on the fly, which has been an area where the systems have been unable to monitor network traffic. Gemstar Signs Hitachi
Los Angeles-bsaed Gemstar-TV Guide International and the Home Electronics Division of Hitachi America announced that Hitachi has signed a multi-year licensing agreement to TV Guide's interactive program guides. Hitachi will incorporate TV Guide's program guide technology into Hitachi digital televisions in North America. The agreement calls for a per-unit license fee paid by Hitachi. eMusic Relaunches Service
San Diego-based eMusic (www.emusic.com), the online music service which was sold a year ago by Vivendi, has relaunched its digital music services around independent music labels. NSF Funds San Diego Cybersecurity Research Center
The National Science Foundation (NSF) announced yesterday that it has funded two new cybersecurity centers, to study Internet Epidemiology and "Ecology". One of those cyber centers will be headed by Stefan Savage of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in conjunction with an associate at UC Berkeley. The Center for Internet Epidemiology and Defenses will be funded $6.2M over five years for researching ways to eliminate the worms and viruses that plague the Internet.
