Vendare Group Renames Itself, Appoints Chairman
Sherman Oaks-based The Vendare Group said this week that it has changed its name to Vendare Media. The company said that the name change was made to better reflect the company's focus on online media solutions. The company also said that it has named Robert Kavner as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Kavner is chairman of Earthlink, Ironport Systems, and serves on the board of Savage Beast and Idealab. Vendare Media is majority owned by Idealab.

Ixia Upgrades Routing Test Capability-
Calabasas-based Ixia said earlier this week that it has released an upgraded version of its IxANVL solutiion that supports the BGP4+ IP routing protocol. The addition of the IPv6 BGP+ support better supports conformance testing of IPv6 networks. The company said that the release also adds Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) for IEEE 802.3ad. Ixia's IxANVL solution is used to provide conformance and interoperability testing for networking hardware.

StoneFly Extends Sales Capability
San Diego-based StoneFly announced this week that it has expanded its sales capability and opened up six regional sales office to sell its IP-based backup solution. StoneFly develops and markets an IP-based disk-to-disk backup solution for the storage area networking (SAN) market. The company also said that it was forming and end-user advisory board to help it determine its product direction.

JAMDAT Launches Chinese Wireless Titles
Los Angeles-based wireless entertainment publisher JAMDAT Mobile announced yesterday that it has shipped two new wireless entertainment titles on China Unicom, a leading wireless carrier in China. Lord of the Rings - Two Towers and Collapse will be distributed through C-Valley. JAMDAT develops entertainment titles for a wide variety of mobile phones, available for download in conjunction with wireless carriers.

Crash Bandicoot Announces Racing Game
Los Angeles-based Vivendi Universal Games announced that it is developing Crash Tag Team Racing for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, and Nintendo DS. The new entertainment title was developed by Radical Entertainment. The racing battle game also includes split-screen multiplayer play to link up to eight players in play. The game is the next in the series featuring the popular Crash Bandicoot character. The title is expected to ship in the fall of this year.

Superconductor Technologies Gets NASDAQ Warning
Santa Barbara-based Superconductor Technologies said yesterday that it has received a letter from the NASDAQ stock market warning that the company's stock has closed below $1.00 per share, the minimum required for NASD listing. The company said that it has six months to a year to bring its share price back up to compliance, before it will be dropped to the NASDAQ SmallCap Market. Acacia Scores Another Patent Win
Newport Beach-based Acacia Research this morning said that it has licensed its credit card fraud protection technology to Petco Animal Supplies, and settled the patent infringement suit it had filed against the firm. Terms were not disclosed. Acacia said that it is now evaluating additional patent portfolios for acquisition. Tekelec Relocates Headquarters, Abandons Southland
Calabasas-based Tekelec announced today that it is moving its headquarters from Calabasas to Morrisville, NC. In conjunction with the move, the company said that it was naming a number of Morrisville-based executives to its executive staff, and eliminating its Calabasas operations. Tekelec said that it recently had employed 145 in its Calabasas plant, and had reduced the number to 40 in the last year as it shifted to contract manufacturers. Tekelec was founded in 1978 and went IPO in 1986,

Ambrx Raises $23.4M
San Diego-based Ambrx has raised $23.4M for its protein-based medicines. The preferred stock placement included participation by new firms Maverick Capital, CMEA Ventures, Twilight Venture Partners and Alexandria Real Estate Equities. Existing investors Tavistock Life Sciences, 5AM Ventures, Versant Ventures and Aravis Ventures also participated. The firm said that David Singer of Maverick will join the company's board as part of the funding.
