Semtech Adds SONET/SDH IC
Camarillo-based Semtech has debuted a new IC aimed at the SONET and SDH networking equipment market. Semtech's new ACS8942A, is a jitter attenuating and multiplying (JAM) phase-locked loop (PLL), used for OC-48/STM-16 systems networking and telecom equipment. Semtech is a developer of analog and mixed signal semiconductors used across a wide variety fo industries.

Inphi Ships DDR Timing IC
Westlake Village-based Inphi this week announced that it has shipped a new IC targeted at the DDR memory industry. The company's Double Data Rate (DDR2) Configurable Registered Buffer with Parity Checking is targeted at high performance workstations, middle and high performance servers, and high reliability systems. The company's ICs are incorporated into memory modules by DIMM memory manufacturers.

SMC Revs DSL Router Line
Irvine-based SMC Networks said this week that it has a new line of routers for the ADSL2/2+ market. The company shipped two new 4-port routers and a Voice over IP gateway targeted at Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and the telecom market. ADSL2/2+ is a new, backwards compatible specification that increases downstream rates and distance range for DSL service. All of the company's new equipment is available for ISPs now. SMC develops networking products targeted at the SMB and home market.

Vitesse Appoints VP of Ethernet
Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor has named Martyn Humphries as General Manager and VP of its Ethernet Products Division. The company said that Humphries will head up business strategy and new market development for its Gigabit Ethernet silicon. Humphries was most recently VP of Marketing for NetLogic Microsystems, and has served at Broadcom. Vitesse develops semiconductors for the high speed networking and storage industry.

Avexus Names Executives
San Diego-based Avexus announced yesterday that it has appointed two new executives. The venture-backed provider of supply chain logistics for the aerospace and other industries said that it has named Douglas Castro as Vice President of Federal/DoD Sales, and Guy Knight as Senior Director of Strategic Accounts. Castro joins from MRO Software, and has also served at Manugistics. Knight was most recently VP and GM of API Logistics Group and was the co-founder of AeroV, a supply chain business ser (More info...)

Paciolan Adds Entertainment Outlets
Irvine-based Paciolan said this week that it has added the Resch Center and its properties as a client of its online ticketing services. The Resch Center will use Paciolan's online ticketing solutions to sell concert tickets across several properties. Resch said that it moved to the Paciolan system to accomodate greater online ticket sales and increase online ticketing, and said that after moving to the Paciolan system it sold more than 75% of a recent Josh Groban and Kenny Chesney concert ticke (More info...)

Red Herring Names Finalists
The Red Herring has named 200 finalists to its Red Herring 100 Private Companies, including several Southern California firms. The magazine named Southern California companies DATallegro, eEye Digital Security, FrontBridge Technologies, Luxtera, Nereus Pharmaceuticals, Preventsys, Stacatto Communications, Streamload, Tarari, and Troika Networks as top 200 finalists. The magazine will name the winners and top finalists at its invite-only spring conference in May in Monterey.
