Verari Rolls Out Dual-Core AMD Opteron Blades
San Diego-based Verari Systems said today that it will begin offering blade server systems based on the new Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor. The company said that it plans to roll out the AMD dual-core technology throughout its product line by early June. Verari develops a line of blade servers which minimize footprint and optimize density of computer systems. Language Weaver Adds Engineering Management, Staff
Los Angeles-based language translation tools firm Language Weaver said this week that it has hired Dr. Amir Izadpanah to as Senior Director of Engineering. Izadpanah will lead the company's engineering operations. The company said that it has recently added six new R&D employees to its team to bolster its product development. Diligent, Nexsan Partner On Virtual Tape
Woodland Hills-based Nexsan Technologies and virtual tape provider Diligent Technologies have joined to deliver a joint virtual tape library (VTL) solution based on Nexsan's SATA/ATA disk arrays. The combination of Diligent's virtual tape software and Nexsan's low cost disk arrays will allow end user to back up their hosts easily to disk instead of tape. Xingtone Launches Ringtone Store For Artists
Los Angeles-based mobile content firm Xingtone said yesterday that it has launched a new initiative to allow independent content owners to create and sell their own ringtones from their web sites. The firm said that it will now allow any artist, record label, or web site builder to upload ringtone clips, sell those clips, and automatically sent those ringtones to customers. JAMDAT Buys Blue Lava Wireless For $137M
Los Angeles-based mobile entertainment publnisher JAMDAT Mobile has acquired Blue Lava Wireless, a developer of wireless entertainment, for $137M. The acquisition brings JAMDAT an exclusive 15 year worldwide license to the wireless version of the popular game Tetris, and according to JAMDAT is expected to add immediately to its bottom line. X1 Technologies Raises $10M
Pasadena-based X1 Technologies announced this morning that it has received $10M in new venture funding from U.S. Venture Partners (USVP) and Pasadena-based Idealab. The desktop search software firm said that the funds would be used to increase sales and product development initiatives for the company, increasing staffing worldwide.
