Xingtone Launches Ringtone Store For Artists

Los Angeles-based mobile content firm Xingtone said yesterday that it has launched a new initiative to allow independent content owners to create and sell their own ringtones from their web sites. The firm said that it will now allow any artist, record label, or web site builder to upload ringtone clips, sell those clips, and automatically sent those ringtones to customers. The Xingtone mStore software offers hosting, storefront, shopping card, payment processing, and delivery of ringtones over the air to a mobile phone. Revenue is split evenly between Xingtone and the artist or record label. Xingtone also said that it will provide marketing support for new mStores. Ministry of Sound, John Cleese of Monty Python, and reggae artist Toots and The Maytals have already begun using the company's services.
