Jazz Targets Digital TV Tuners
Newport Beach-based Jazz Semiconductor has rolled out a specialized foundry process for digital TV tuners. The semiconductor foundry said that it is now offering a customized process for SiGe, BiCMOS, and RFCMOS focused on multi-standard silicon TV tuners in 0.18 micro and 0.35 micron. The process specifically focuses on providing low noise and high dynamic range transistors required for the TV tuner industry. Continuous Computing Acquires Chinese Development Firm
San Diego-based Continuous Computing, a provider of high availability platforms for telecom manufacturers, said yesterday that it has acquired UPTech (United Platform Technologies), a product development firm in China. The company said that the acquisition would add global product development and regional support resources. The acquisition brings 80 additional staff to Continuous in Shenzen China. Webmetrics Upgrades Application Monitoring Tools
San Diego-based Webmetrics announced that it has upgraded its AppMonitor-DA application monitoring tools to support simulation of web applications, including ActiveX, Java Applets, and Windows executibles. The service monitors transactions on the web to allow companies to monitor uptime and performance of those services. UCLA Anderson Venture Competition Announces Winners
The Harold Price Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at UCLA Anderson School of Management announced the winners of its annual Knapp Venture Competition this week, awarding top prize to a company tracking media placements on TV and radio. The top team, Team Auditude, received a grand prize of $10,000 for their venture. Second place wen to Team Mujisan, developing advanced drug delivery. Fandango, IMAX Launch Ticketing Site
Los Angeles-based Fandango launched a new co-branded online portal this morning with IMAX. The new Fandango portal features movie information, showtimes, and advanced ticket sales exclusively for IMAX theaters. The portal is an outgrowth of a marketing partnership Fandango and IMAX entered in December of last year. AOL, YellowPages.com In Strategic Agreement
Pasadena-based YellowPages.com and America Online said this morning that the two companies have reached a strategic agreement to feature YellowPages.com properties across the AOL network. AOL will feature advertisers from YellowPages.com, SBC SMARTpages.com, and BellSouth RealPages.com on the AOL Yellow Pages, extending the exposure for those advertisers.
