Xirrus Opens European Presence
Westlake Village-based wireless LAN hardware firm Xirrus said today that it has expanded into Europe with a new Sales and Marketing headquarters in Belgium. The company said that it will begin shipping its enterprise Wi-Fi arrays in Europe in October. Xirrus develops a WLAN switch and integrated access point devices, used by enterprises to consolidate their WiFi LAN deployment in a single device. The firm is headed by Dirk Gates, former founder and CEO of Xircom.

RiverOne Upgrades Software
Irvine-based supply chain software firm RiverOne said this week that it has upgraded its software for the electronics industry. The company's Interactive 6.5 software adds the ability to handle environmental compliance management, multi-tier planning, and certification with SAP NetWeaver. RiverOne said specifically that the environmental compliance management meets new European environmental regulations. Conexant Ramps Staff India
Newport Beach-based Conexant is continuing its expansion in India, as the company announced that it has added a new President and COO of its Indian operations. The company said that it named Shiva Gowni as president of India Operations, and Naresh Malipeddi as COO. The company said that it expects to have a staff over approximately 700 at its locations in Noida, Hyderabad, Pune, and Bangalore by the end of September. Innozen Raises $2.94M
Woodland Hills-based InnoZen said this week that it has raised $2.94M from the Tech Coast Angels and other Los Angeles angel investors for its quick dissolve strips for delivery of over-the-counter medicines. The company said that it would use the proceeds to build and on-site manufacturing facility. InnoZen said that the company will introduce cough suppressant strips to the OTC market this fall. Steve Pfrenzinger of the Tech Coast Angels has joined the company's board of directors.

HP Buys Peregrine Systems for $425M
Hewlett Packard is acquiring San Diego-based Peregrine Systems for $425M, in a deal which will add Peregrine's IT management software to its suite of enterprise management tools. The deal, which is structured as a cash merger for $26.08 per share of Peregrine stock, calls for Peregrine to be integrated into HP's OpenView business unit.
