SKY MobileMedia Launches Multimedia API
San Diego-based SKY MobileMedia has launched the newest version of its API for wireless multimedia software. The firm said that its SKY-MAP 2.0 mobile applications software provides multimedia capability for handsets, consumer electronics devices, and mobile chipsets. The company has added Khronos multimedia format standards support, Java capabliity and an email client, push-to-talk capability, along with other enhancements. Bluebeam Launches PDF Markup Software
Pasadena-based Bluebeam Software said this week that it has launched new software targeted at markup of PDF files for CAD users. The company's new Bluebeam Revu software provides viewing and markup of PDF files for CAD users. The software works in conjunciton with its PDF generation tools for the CAD industry. The software allows uers to add lines, highlights, text, and more to PDF files to allow for markup of architectural/engineering/construction plans. Pentax Adds DivX Support
San Diego-based DivX said today that Pentax has licensed its DivX technology for use in the Pentax Optio S6 digital camera. The deal is the first for the developer of coder/decoder technology for digital video. The camera incorporates DivX technology to allow the still camera to capture DivX format videos at full-screen VGA (640x480, 30 fps) quality. DivX licenses it technology to manufacturers of DVD players, software providers, and others as a way to highly compress video streams.

eMusic Teams With CompUSA
New York and San Diego-based eMusic said Monday that it has rolled out a retail promotional partnership with computer retailer CompUSA. CompUSA will give away 100 free eMusic MP3 downloads with any purchase from the retailer. eMusic said that all of the songs in its 900,000 track catalog would be available under the promotion. CompUSA will also sell prepaid download cards for eMusic tracks. eMusic is owned by JDS Capital and focuses on independent labels and artists.

Strix Wires City of Tempe
Calabasas-based Strix Systems has scored a win for its wireless mesh networking systems at the city of Tempe, Arizona, as the city unveiled a 40 square-mile, city-wide wireless Wi-Fi network yesterday. The company claims that this is the largest citywide WiFi mesh deployment yet. Tempe provides access to the Wi-Fi network for businesses, residents, and guests, with an overlay network specifically for municipal workers. Naviscan PET Systems Raises $6.5M
San Diego-based Naviscan PET Systems has raised a $6.5M Series B funding for its high resolution positron emission tomography (PET) products. The firm said that it raised the round from Sanderling Ventures, with participation from Mayo Medical Ventures. The medical device firm also said that it has relocated its headquarters to San Diego and appointed Paul Grayson as CEO. Grayson is a Managing Director at Sanderling Ventures. Naviscan's equipment is used for minimally invasive surgery.
