SMC Bundles Data Sharing App
Irvine-based networking hardware maker SMC Networks announced yesterday that it is bundling remote access networking and data sharing software from Senvid with its consumer networking products. SMC will include a copy of Senvid's MioNet virtual workplace software with SMC's EZ-Stream, EZ-Connect, and other networkign products. The deal bundles a 30-day license to the software. CinemaNow, Warner Bros Ink Japanese Deal
Marina Del Rey-based CinemaNow said today that CinemaNow Japan has inked a deal with Warner Bros. International Television to feature films for download in Japan. CinemaNow Japan, which is a joint venture between CinemaNow, Tokyo-based Transcosmos and Microsoft, will feature Warner Bros. films for download via broadband connection. Oversee Launches Degrees.com Education Directory
Los Angeles-based Oversee.net said this morning that it has launched Degrees.com, an online education directory of degree and certificate programs. The new web site will provide information about accredited post-secondary schools, including information about certificates and degrees, and campus and online programs. San Diego Teen Wins Siemens Westinghouse Prize
A San Diego teenager was the winner of the prestigious Siemens Westinghouse math and science competition. Michael Viscardi, a home schooled senior, won a $100,000 scholarship as the Grand Prize winner of the premier science competition. The annual prize provides nearly $2M a year to recognize high school students in the area of math and science, and is judged by a panel of scientists from leading research universities. Digital River Acquires Commerce5
Digital River has acquired Aliso Viejo-based Commerce5, a provider of e-commerce software and services for the manufacturing and consumer electronics market. Digital River will pay approximately $45M in cash, including the payment of $12.6M in liabilities. Digital River will also establish an equity incentive plan for Commerce5 executives. Commerce5 will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Digital River. Commerce5 was previously known as Channelwave Software, which was sold in February to Click (More info...)
