Qualstar Appoints Director
Simi Valley-based Qualstar, a manufacturer of tape libraries and tape drives, has appointed a new member to its board of directors. The firm said that Stanley W. Corker has been appointed to its board, and will serve on both its Audit and Compensation committees. Corker is Director of Technology Research and a partner at Emerald Asset Management, and has also served at IDC, Overland, Cipher Data, and other storage related companies.

Quest Upgrades E-Mail Archiving Solution
Aliso Viejo-based Quest Software released its new e-mail archiving solution this morning, the result of its recent acquisition of AfterMail Technology. The firm said that it has released Archive Manager 3.0, a new e-mail archiving solution for indexing and storing mailbox information. The new software follows its recent acquisition earlier this month of AfterMail, the original developers of the software. Digital Insight Scores Win In Arizona
Calabasas-based Digital Insight has scored a large win with an Arizona credit union. The firm said late last week that Arizona Savings and Credit Union will migrate its 40,000 online banking users to Digital Insight's platform. Digital Insight provides an online banking platform targeted at credit unions and others. Akonix Taps Experts For Advisory Board
San Diego-based Akonix, a developer of instant messaging firewalls and software, said today that it has appointed a new expert advisory board for the firm. The company said that David Gurle of Reuters, James Robertson of Turner Broadcasting, and Bill Maguire former CIO of Aspect Communications and Legato Systems, will advise the company on its products. Akonix targets the instant messaging market with software and firewalls for filtering and controlling instant messaging traffic.

Xirrus Raises Venture Round From August, USVP
Thousand Oaks-based Xirrus, a developer of Wi-Fi switch equipment, today is announcing that it has raised an external round of funding from several venture firms. The funding came from August Capital and U.S. Venture Partners. As part of the funding, Steve Krausz of USVP, David F. Marquardt of August Capital, and Bill Schroeder, former head of Diamond Multimedia and Conner Peripherals, will join the board. AOL Signs Deals With Broadband Providers
America Online announced today that the firm has signed a deal with broadband network providers BellSouth, Time Warner Cable, and Verizon to offer its services over DSL. The Internet Services provider has been facing huge outflows from its service as consumers have moved to broadband cable and DSL connections, and the move allows its customers to get broadband service for as low as $25.90 per month.
