Disney Goes Mobile With Pirates
North Hollywood-based mDisney, Walt Disney's mobile publishing unit, said yesterday that it is offering a new, real-time multiplayer application for mobile handsets. The company is offering a version of Pirates of the Caribbean MultiPlayer, a multi-player game for mobile phones. The new game is being launched in conjunction with Disney's upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean film in July. Iomega Cuts Staff, Reports Loss
San Diego-based Iomega is cutting staff, as the firm reported a loss for the first quarter, due to lower sales of its Zip, optical, and REV drives. The firm said yesterday that it would cut 75 employees, in addition to 13 positions it already eliminated since the beginning of the year in a bid to reduce costs. The cuts equal 30% of the company's workforce, and is expected to save it $20 to $25M in annual cost savings. Conexant Announces Results
Newport Beach-based Conexant released its second quarter results for 2006, saying yesterday that it had revenues of $242.6M, up from $230.7M from the first quarter. The company's operating loss was $41.6M in the second quarter, on a GAAP basis. The company said that it had double digit growth in its satellite set-top box business. Conexant is a provider of semiconductors for the broadband, communications, and broadcast industries.

WebVisible Inks Deal With McClatchy
Irvine-based WebVisible has inked a deal with The McClatchy Company, saying that the deal will make WebVisible's white-label local search advertising products available to McClatchy's regional newspapers. WebVisible said that McClatchy will manage the back-end of annual packages sold by McClatchy's regional newspapers.
