Monday, July 31, 2006Revver Expands Series BLos Angeles-based Revver announced today that it has added Comcast Interactive Capital and Turner Broadcasting as new investors in the firm's Series B funding round. Revver said that the funding would be used for market expansion, team-building, and technology development. Comcast and Turner join Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Bessemer Venture Partners, Draper Richards, and William Randolph Hearst III as investors in the firm.

Axiom Microdevices (www.axiom-micro.com) is an Irvine-based semiconductor firm that is developing power amplifier technology for the cell phone industry, based on inexpensive CMOS process technology. The company's technology promises to enable single chip cell phones, something which could dramatically reduce the costs of cell phone circuitry. Passenger Quietly Raises Venture RoundLos Angeles-based Passenger, a company developing technology for brand
marketing, has quietly raised a round of venture capital, socalTECH has learned. Funding came from Shelter Capital Partners. As of press time, the company did not answers emails asking about details on its venture funding, however, according to the latest PricewaterhouseCoopers Moneytree report, the round was worth $1.8M.

Academy123 Sold To Discovery EducationWestlake Village-based Academy123 was quietly sold earlier this month to Discovery Education. Terms were not disclosed. Academy123 developed homework study guides and educational software for middle and high school students. Discovery said that it will distribute Academy123's products beginning in September. Academy123 was funded by Arcturus Capital and Momentum Venture Management.

Deltek Buys C/S SolutionsLos Angeles-based C/S Solutions, a provider of software for the business intelligence market, has been acquired by Deltek Systems. Financial terms were not disclosed. C/S Solutions software is used for cost, schedule, and risk integration. Deltek Systems is a provider of enterprise project management software. San Diego-based Software Equity Group LLC advised C/S Solutions in the transaction.

Linksys Launches VPN RoutersIrvine-based Linksys launched two new routers last week targeting small office/home office and small businesses. Linksys said that its new 4-Port Gigabit Security Router with VPN, and 4-Port SSL/IP Sec VPN Routers are targeted at small businesses and remote workers. DataDirect Debuts New Storage SystemLos Angeles-based DataDirect Networks, a provider of high performance storage systems for the high performance computing (HPC) and other markets, said last week that it has unviled its newest storage system. The firm's new S2A9550 provides up to 3 GB/s of performance and capacities of up to 56TB in a single storage system. DataDirect's systems are optimized for sustained performance required for high performance server clusters. The new system supports both Fibre Channel and SATA disk drives.
