Private Equity Firm Completes Thales Navigation Buy
Shah Capital Partners, a private equity group, said Thursday that an investment group has completed its purchase of San Dimas-based Thales Navigation, a division of Thales, in a deal worth $170M. The new company will be known as Magellan. Private equity investors in the group included Tudor Group, Galleon Group, Consolidated Press Holdings, AIG SunAmerica, and Eli Broad. Interthinx Acquires Domus System
Agoura Hills-based Interthinx, a unit of ISO, said today that the firm has acquired Los Angeles-based Domus System, a company that provides automated compliance and reporting services to the affordable housing industry. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The Domus System colections, maintains, and reports on resident and property data for the affordable housing industry,and is used by asset managers and affordable housing agencies. Sprints Ships EV-DO Rev A Device
Sprint has launched the first, available EV-DO Revision A broadband card, the Novatel Wireless S720 Sprint Mobile Broadband Card, which promises to dramatically increase uplink and downlink speeds for wireless data transfers. The new device will connect into Sprint's wireless broadband network, which the carrier is upgrading to the fater EV-DO Revision A standard this year. Studios Ship Blu-ray Disc Titles
A number of studios announced a flurry of new titles for the new Blu-ray disk format today. Los Angeles-based Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment said today that it will ship its first Blu-ray Disc titles in November. The firm said that it will release eight titles, including Behind Enemy Lines, Fantastic Four, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Speed, and several other titles. Smith Micro Gets Relisted
Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro Software said today that it has been approved for relisting of its common stock on the NASDAQ Global Market. The firm will resume trading today under the symbol SMSI. Smith Micro is a developer of communications and utility software.
