Quorum Systems Gets $15M
San Diego-based Quorum Systems has raised $15M in a third round of funding, the firm announced this morning. The Series C funding round was led by new investor Crescendo Ventures, and also included existing investors Greylock Partners, Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield and Byers, and Enterprise Partners Venture Capital. Quorum is a manufacturer of ultra-low-power, integrated CMOS radio frequency transceivers used for the wireless market. LSI Logic Acquires StoreAge
Milpitas-based LSI Logic has acquired Israeli firm StoreAge Networking Technologies Ltd, in a deal worth $50M in cash. StoreAge, which has its U.S. headquarters in Irvine, provides software for storage area networking management and data protection. LSI said that the acquisition would enable it to offer richer products and features for its end users. LSI said that it will offer employment to all of StoreAge's employees, who will join the firm's Engenio Storage Group.

Conexant Buys Packet Switching Business
Newport beach-based Conexant has acquired the packet switching business of Zarlink Semiconductor, the firm said last night. The deal, which was worth $5M in cash, includes Fast Ethernet switching products. Conexant said that the devices are complimentary to its DSL central office products. Conexant also said that its packet switch core engineering team has become part of COnexant's Broadband Access group and will be based in Newport Beach.

Greenspan Acquires Flurl.com
Brad Greenspan, former founder of Intermix, said today that he has acquired the majority stake in Belgium-based Flurl.com, an independent video search website. The acquisition was made by Los Angeles-based LiveUniverse, Greenspan's investment firm. Flurl provides multimedia searches of video, images, audio, and flash content.

Qualcomm Taps IBM, Samsung, Chartered For Foundry Services
San Diego-based Qualcomm, a developer of CDMA phone technology, said today that it is tapping three manufacturing products for 90nm chip production of its chips. Qualcomm said that semiconductor fabrication houses IBM, Samsung, and Chartered have started production of its system-on-a-chip products. The firm's common platform provides multiple suppliers and interlock with its foundry partners for productino of its designs.
