Enclarity Gets Series B
Aliso Viejo-based Enclarity said Monday that it has raised $10M in Series B funding. The round came from Bain Capital Ventures, and also included original investor Ignition Partners. Enclarity develops software for the healthcare market. Jeff Crisan of Bain Capital joins the firm's board as part of the funding. Enclarity's software is used to correct provider data errors for healthcare payers.

Advanced Medical Optics Buys Intralase
Santa Ana-based Advanced Medical Optics is buying Irvine-based Intralase in a $808M cash deal, the firms said Monday. Both firms provide opthalmic surgical and eye care products. The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of 2007. Both firms make laser vision correction products. AMO is funding the acquisition with a $900M acquisition facility from a number of banks.

Proprius Pharmaceuticals Raises $11M
San Diego-based Proprius Pharmaceuticals said today that it has completed a $11M Series A funding round for its non-steroidal anti-inflammatory compounds (NSAID) for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee. The funding also includes possible expansion of the round to $17M if needed for new programs. Microsoft, Broadcom Partner On HD DVD
Microsoft and Irvine-based Broadcom this morning announced that the two companies are in a joint effort to support a new HD DVD reference design. The two compaines said that they have created a new platform that uses Microsoft windows CE and Broadcom's BCM7440 system-on-a-chip to allow OEMs and ODMs to design HD DVD players. Microsoft and Broadcom said that Lite-On IT Corp and Zhenjiang Jiangk]ui Group Co. Ltd. are two of the companies that are planning to use the Microsoft/Broadcom combination (More info...)

Emmy Awards Takes User-Generated Submissions
Los Angeles-based MySpace and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said today that they will take submission--from anyone with an Internet connection and a camera--for the Broadband Emmy Awards. The Broadband Emmy Awards will allow for the submission of any user-generated content for consideration in the Emmy awards. Dominion Enterprises Acquires Pullan Communications
Virginia-based Dominion Enterprises said today that it has acquired Los Angeles-based Pullan Communications, a provider of real estate email marketing and web site development for the real estate industry. Terms were not disclosed. Dominion said that Pullan had annual revenues of approximately $2.3M. Pullan's services include lead generation and search engine marketing services.

Agensys Collaborates On Cancer Therapy
Santa Monica-based Agensys and Seattle Genetics said today that the two are in an agreement to research, develop, and commercialize therapies for cancer. The multi-year agreement calls for the two to co-fund preclinical and clinical development and share profits. Agensys is developing therapeutic monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) to treat solid tumor cancers.

Juice Wireless Upgrades Mobile Publishing Tool
Los Angeles- and New York-based Juice Wireless said this morning that it has launched JuiceCaster 4.0, the latest version of its mobile publishing tool. The Juice Wireless application allows users to publish content from their mobile phones to the web. The software also posts that content to social networking sites like MySpace, Xanga, and Friendster, and blog services like Blogger.
