Procore Announces Series B Funding
Santa Barbara-based Procore Technologies has closed a $4M Series B round of funding, the firm said this week. The round was led by Great Pacific Capital, and will be used to accelerate the company's sales and marketing efforts. Procore develops project management software for the construction industry. The company raised $2M in the first half of the funding in October, and previously had raised $950,000 in a seed round led by Kevin O'Connor of DoubleClick.

SmartDrive Lands Series C Funding
San Diego-based SmartDrive Systems, which develops systems for risk management for fleet vehicles, has raised an undisclosed Series C round of funding from Oak Investment Partners. SmartDrive said that Revolution Ventures, The Founders Fund, and Western Technology Investments also particpated in the deal. SmartDrive's service includes hardware and software for capturing video of driving incidents, and is targeted at automotive fleet managers.

Ripple Announces $5M Funding
El Segundo-based Ripple, which develops and distributes programming for digital networks, has raised $5M in funding. The firm, which actually closed the round back in August of last year but declined to discuss the funding with socalTECH, was formerly known as ActiveMaps. Funding came from Trinity Ventures and Draper Fisher Jurvetson. Ripple broadcasts content, including headlines news and entertainment to retail locations like The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Diedrich Coffee, and Jiffy Lube.

Internet Brands Buys DoItYourself.com
Los Angeles-based Internet Brands announced this morning that it has acquired DoItYourself.com, a home improvement and home repair website. Financial terms were not disclosed. DoItYourself.com provides home improvement discussion forums and personalized advice, and was founded in 1995. The deal did not include affiliated web sites or the founders of the DoItYourself.com site.

Userplane Adds Games
Santa Monica-based Userplane said today that it has added new, two-player games for the firm's instant messaging platform. The new feature allows users to play games from their instant messaging window, and includes four games, centered around puzzle matching, a "battleship" type game, question and answers, and trivia. Live Nation Ties Into Last.fm
Los Angeles-based Live Nation, which provides live music information about concerts, said Tuesday that it has signed a deal with social networking site Last.fm to provide concert information to the site. Livenation will provide a direct feed of U.S. and Canadian concert information into Last.fm, along with links to purchase tickets. London-based Last.fm operates an online service that uses music fans' media players to recommend new music and concerts.

Linspire Upgrades Linux Software Install
San Diego-based Linspire, a developer of a desktop, consumer-focused version of the Linux operating system, said yesterday that it plans to expand the firm's click-and-run download software to most popular LInux desktop distributions. The firm said that it is looking to standardize software installation across Linux distributions based on its service, which previously only ran on the firm's Linspire and Freespire distributions. The firm's SEMDirector Marketing Action Platform allows marketers to gain a consolidated view of their search marketing activities. BasePoint Targets Mortgage Fraud
Carlsbad-based BasePoint Analytics is targeting mortgage fraud with a new product. The firm said that its FraudMark for Investment Banking product uses analytics to identify suspicious mortgage loans, and is targeted at investment banks and due diligence firms. BasePoint is applying pattern recognition technology to decrease fraud risk in investment portfolios.

Iomega Rolls Out NAS Server
San Diego-based Iomega has rolled out a new product, announcing this week that it has shipped a new network attached storage server for small businesses and home users. The firm's new StorCenter Pro NAS 150d is a network attached storage server featuring up to 2TB of storage and hot swappable hard drives. The new NAS product uses SATA II drives and supports RAID 0, 1, or RAID 5 operation. Iomega said the new product will be available for less than $800.
