Fanprice.com Launches Ticket Exchange
Fanprice.com, a new startup focused on helping fans exchange tickets, said that it has launched its services today. The firm said that it will allow fans to set the price they want to pay for tickets to sporting events, concerts, theater, and special events. The site allows users to browse for events, select a seat, and then name the price they would be willing to pay for a ticket. Sellers are then able to review and accept offers for those seats. Jazz Technologies Acquired By Tower Semiconductor
Newport Beach-based Jazz Technologies has been acquired by an Israeli semiconductor foundry, Tower Semiconductor, the firms said late Monday. Tower Semiconductor and Jazz Technologies said that Tower will acquire all of the outstanding shares of Jazz in a stock-for-stock transaction, worth approximately $169M. The firms said they believe the merger will create economies of scale and improved margins. Xytech Gets Win At Scripps Network
Burbank-based Xytech Systems Corporation, a provider of software for media library management and digital workflow automation, said Tuesday that it has been selected by Scripps Network for its production operations. Xytech's software will be used at Scripps' production operations in Knoxville, Nashville, and New York City. Quidel Links On Influenza Test
San Diego-based Quidel Corporation, a provider of healthcare diagnostic tests, and Prodesse, which develops molecular diagnostic reagents for infection diseases, said that the two are in a partnership. The two companies will team up to promote Prodesse's ProFlu+ molecular diagnostic test for influenza within the United States. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The diagnostic test is being used for diagnosis of repiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in pediatric patients.

Napster Opens MP3 Store
Los Angeles-based Napster said late last night that it has launched a new, DRM-free MP3 store, specifically aimed at luring in Apple iPod and iPhone users. The provider of digital music downloads said that the new store will offer single MP3 tracks for sale at 99 cents, and $9.95 for most albums. Napster said it will offer 100 percent of its catalog in MP3 format. Until now, Napster's music download services did not support Apple's popular iPod music player. Epicor Loses CFO, Shuffles Execs
Irvine-based enterprise software developer Epicor Software said today that it has lost its EVP and CFO, Michael Piraino. According to Epicor, Piraino has resigned, effective immediately, and the firm has initiated a search for a permanent Chief Financial Officer. No reason for the resignation was given. In a related move, Epicor said that Russell Clark, the firm's VP Finance and Corporate Controller, has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Finance.
