JAJAH, Chumby Link Services
San Diego-based Chumby Industries, which makes a Linux-based, Internet information gadget, has signed on Internet calling firm JAJAH as a provider of a new phone widget for the device. According to JAJAH, it has added its Internet telephony technology into Chumby's device, allowing people to place local or global phone calls through the device. X1 Trumpets Customer Count
Pasadena-based X1 Technologies, the Idealab startup which develops desktop search software, announced today that it has signed up more than 300 customers who have deployed the company's enterprise product, X1 Enterprise Search Suite. Channel M Taps Technology Provider
Los Angeles-based Channel M, a venture-funded provider of a digital, out-of-home video network, announced today that it has signed a deal with Park media. Park Media is a provider of software for delivering content to out-of-home networks like Channel M's. Channel M said it will use Park Media's platform to deliver content to its retail customers. SAIC Completes SM Consulting Buy
San Diego-based Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), said today that it has completed its acquisition of Linthicum, Md.-based SM Consulting. SM Consulting is a provider of linguistics services to the fedral, state, and local government sectors. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Stamps.com Gets USPS Extension
Los Angeles-based Stamps.com, a provider of PC postage products and customized photo postage, said today that it has received an extension to offer its popular PhotoStamps product through May 16, 2009. The firm's product allows consumers to upload any digital photograph or use a licensed image on their own, custom postage. Userplane Launches Media Player
Santa Monica-based Userplane, the online software and widget firm owned by AOL, said Tuesday that it has formally launched a new video publishing application, Userplane Mediaplayer. The Wiliam Morris Agency and Peter Adderton, former founder of spectacular MVNO flameout Amp'd Mobile, said this morning that they have created a new company called Agency 3.0. Simi Valley-based NovaStor, a developer of data storage management software, said today that it has released the latest version of the firm's NovaBACKUP data protection and disaster recovery software. The firm said that the upgraded software--NovaBACKUP 10--adds ability to back up data to online storage accounts, and full disk image recovery.
