Gorilla Nation Gets Win At Gawker For Canadian Sales
Los Angeles-based online advertising representation firm Gorilla Nation said Wednesday that the firm has been selected to represent the online ad inventory for Gawker Media in Canada. Gawker publishes the popular blogs Gawker, Gizmodo, Valleywag, Defamer, Kotaku, Defamer, and other gossip/pop culture web sites. Gorilla Nation did not detail financial terms behind the advertising deal. RVM Scientific Acquired By Agilent
Santa Barbara-based RVM Scientific, a manufacturer of direct heating/cooling systems for laboratory instruments, has been acquired by test equipment firm Agilent. Financial terms were not disclosed. According to Agilent, the acquisition of RVM Scientific's technology expands its solution of products for the gas chromatography (GC) market. Viva Vision Inks Mobile Deal With Sports Illustrated
San Diego- and Los Angeles-based Viva Vision said today that it has inked a strategic partnership with Sports Illustrated Group to produce a mobile application for the firm. According to Viva, it will provide a SI Swimsuit slideshow focused on Sports Illustrated models wearing designer swimwear. The slideshows will be available as a wireless application. iRise Launches R&D Effort
El Segundo-based iRise, a provider of software used for visualizing applications said Wednesday that it has launched a new effort called "iRise Labs." The firm said that the lab will test ideas and launch early stage products and solution. iRise said the first offering from the lab will be a version of the firm's software, delivered via software-as-a-service. RazorGator Snags VP From Yahoo
Los Angeles-based RazorGator, a provider of an online secondary ticket sale marketplace, said Tuesday afternoon that the firm has hired on a former Yahoo executive as VP of Business Development for the firm. RazorGator said it has hired Scott Roback, who spent the last 10 years in Corporate Strategy and Business Development for Yahoo! Music, to the position. Cooking.com Raises $13M
Santa Monica-based Cooking.com said today that it has raised $13M in a new round of venture capital funding. The firm said that the round was led by Azure Capital Partners, and also included venture debt from ORIX Venture Finance. The new funding will go towards expanding the company's business operations, including opening a second distribution facility for the firm in Ohio, and enhancing the company's web site. QLogic Ships Infiniband Adapter Line
Aliso Viejo-based QLogic said Tuesday that it has begun shipping a new Infiniband host channel adapter (HCA). Infiniband HCAs are used to connect servers to Infiniband networks, which are being used for storage and high performance computing. According to QLogic, the new QLogic 7200 series adapters are shipping in volume, and offer what the firm describes as "the highest performing InfiniBand host channel adapter (HCA) in the industry."
