Callwave Moves HQ To San Francisco
Callwave, a provider of Internet messaging and voice messaging services, has quietly moved its headquarters to San Francisco from its birthplace in Santa Barbara. A spokesperson for the firm said that the company still maintains operations in Santa Barbara, but moved its new San Francisco headquarters about two months ago. The firm's executive team is now entirely in the Bay Area. According to the firm, the move was in part due to the accessibility to labor pool.

Ligand Acquires Pharmacopeia
San Diego-based pharmaceuticals firm Ligand Pharmaceuticals said Thursday morning that it has entered into a definitive merger agreement to acquire Pharmacopeia. The deal is worth $70M. According to the firm, the deal is a stock-for-stock exchange plus up to $15M in contingent cash payments. Verimatrix Raises Series C Funding Round
San Diego-based Verimatrix is announcing today that it has now raised more than $20M in funding in its Series C funding round. According to the firm, the additional funding in its Series C funding came from JK&B Capital. The firm had previously announced that Goldman Sachs, and SunAmerica Ventures had invested in the firm's Series C round. Cherokee International Acquired By Lineage Power Holdings
Tustin-based Cherokee International, a manufacturer of power supplies for the datacom, telecom, medical, and other industries, is being acquired by Lineage Power Holdings, the firm said today. According to Cherokee, Lineage Power Holdings, which is owned by private equity firm the Gores Group, will pay approximately $105M in cash for the firm. MySpace Music Goes Live
Los Angeles-based MySpace launched its MySpace Music service last night, the firm's joint venture with EMI Music, SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony ATV/ Music Publishing. The site is an online music community and music store, which allows MySpace members to listen to and purchase music. Cramster.com Finds $3M
Pasadena-based Cramster.com, an online community focused on students and homework, said today that it has raised $3M in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Mr. Shai Reshef, who the firm described as an online education industry veteran. Transaction Wireless Scores $2.25M
San Diego-based Transaction Wireless announced this morning that it has raised $2.25M in a Series A funding. The funding came from Mission Ventures and Okapi Ventures. According to the firm, it is developing mobile infrastructure for relationship marketing, including mobile POS and mobile gift cards. International Rectifier Names New CFO
El Segundo-based International Rectifier, a supplier of analog semiconductors, said Thursday afternoon that it has appointed Ilan Daskal as the firm's new Chief Financial Officer. According to IR, Daskal was most recently VP of FInance and Business Administration for Infineon Technologies. Daskal has also served at Savan Communication, which was acquired by Infineon, as well as a number of Israeli technology companies.
