Buy.com: It Was A Good Cyber Monday
What recession? Aliso Viejo-based online retailer Buy.com reported today that the firm had its biggest sales day in company history Monday, an increase of over 40 percent from the firm's sales last year. According to the firm, the company's "Cyber Monday" sales also surpassed similar, record setting sales numbers set on Black Friday. Women's Clothing Tops Shopping Lists
Los Angeles-based PriceGrabber released its Black Friday online shopping statistics over the weekend, giving a peek into what kinds of products consumers are looking for on the comparison shopping site. The site found that the top categories for shopping were women's boots; watches; Blu-ray/HD-DVD players; women's sleep and lounge wear; and games and puzzles. Inphi Taps Makimoto To Advisory Board
Westlake Village-based Inphi Corporation, a manufacturer of high speed analog semiconductors, said this morning that it has appointed Dr. Tsugio Makimoto as an advisor for the company. Makimoto is based in Japan, and was most recently an executive at Hitachi Ltd. Makimoto has also served as Corporate Senior Executive Vice president at Sony. Makimoto is also an IEEE Fellow. Quest Software Settles With SEC
Aliso Viejo-based Quest Software, a developer of system management software, said today that it has reached an agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission into the firm's stock option practices. According to Quest, it has agreed to settle with the SEC, without admitting or denying the allegations in the SEC's compliant. Nirvanix Powers Ooyala
San Diego-based Nirvanix, a provider of storage-as-a-service, said Tuesday that the firm's technology is being used by video delivery firm Ooyala. According to Nirvanix, Ooyala is using Nirvanix to help its customers store and manage HD-quality video. Financial impact of the partnership was not disclosed. Nirvanix provides online storage for Internet-based businesses, which can be access via a programmatic API. Xirrus Installs In Kansas
Thousand Oaks-based Xirrus, a provider of Wi-Fi networking hardware, has installed its products at a university in Topeka, Kansas, the firm disclosed today. Aliso Viejo-based CitizenHawk, which develops tools to prevent and locate cybersquatters, said today that it has signed a number of online companies as clients. The firm said that it has signed over 30 major online companies as customers, including Lands' End, ProFlowers, PacSun, RedEnvelope, and BuyCostumes. Financial impact of the deals were not disclosed. Siimpel Gets ISO 9001 Cert
Arcadia-based Siimpel, a developer of optical micro electrical mechanical systems (MEMs), said today that the firm has achieved ISO 9001 quality certifications. Siimpel's MEMs semiconductors are being targeted at use in cellular phones for providing autofocus, image stabilization, and related features. Hydra Hires Finance VP
Los Angeles-based Hydra, an affiliate advertising network, said Monday that it has appointed Gary Gooperman as the firm's Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration. Hydra said that Cooperman joins the firm from Helio, where Cooperman was also VP of Finance and Accounting.
