Pegasus Biologics Acquired By Synovis
Irvine-based Pegasus Biologics, a venture backed developer of collagen-based bioimplants for orthopedic, spine, and neurosurgery, has been acquired by Synovis Life Technologies, Inc. Synovis said that it has signed a definitive purchase agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Pegasus, for $12.1M in cash. Zag: "Strongest Sales So far This Year"
Santa Monica-based Zag.com, the online automobile buying service headed by Scott Painter, is reporting today that it had what is calls its "strongest sales so far this year" in June. The firm--which provides its car buying service as a private-label offering through affiliate groups such as the AAA and USAA--said it had 20% sales growth in June, and 15% growth on average for the previous three months. SodaHead Connects With Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo

People Media Acquired By Match.com
Los Angeles-based People Media, which operates an online network of vertically focused dating sites, has been acquired by IAC's Match.com. According to Match.com, it will pay $80M in cash for People Media, which operates 27 dating sites, including BlackPeopleMeet.com, SingleParentMeet.com, SeniorPeopleMeet.com, BBPeopleMeet.com and LDSPlanet.com. People Media was owned by American Capital Ltd. Match.com said that People Media had $11.6M in EBITDA in 2008, and has over 225,000 paying subscribers.

CyberDefender Expands Retail Efforts
Los Angeles-based CyberDefender, which develops PC antivirus and antispyware software, announced today that the firm has expanded a prepaid card program it has with Allianex, which will make prepaid cards for purchasing the firm's products available to another 40,000 stores. CyberDefender said the program would make prepaid cards for its products available in 145,000 stores globally. NEXUS Biosystems Gains New Funding
Poway-based NEXUS Biosystems, a manufacturer of scientific equipment used to automate handling of samples for pharmaceutical, biotech, agrichemical, and research firms, disclosed this morning that has received a majority equity and growth financing from Telegraph Hill Partners. Somaxon Gets $6M In PIPE
San Diego-based Somaxon Pharmaceuticals reports today that the publicly held firm has received a $6M, private equity financing. The firm said that the funding came from its existing venture investors, including MPM Capital, Montreux Equity Partners, Scale Venture Partners, Prospect Venture Partners and Domain Associates, as well as new investors Tavistock Life Sciences and others. Quest Software Rolls Out Storage Software
Aliso Viejo-based Quest Software said today that it has released new software aimed at the storage resource management market. According to Quest, the firm's new product, Storage Horizon, measures storage usage, helps with provisioning, and provides automated storage analysis and reporting.
