Clearwire Expands Coverage In LA
Broadband wireless service provider Clearwire said this week that it has expanded its coverage in the Los Angeles area. According to the firm, its Los Angeles service area now covers more than 1,900 square miles. Clearwire provides it broadband using the WiMAX wireless protocol, both via its own brand and cross branding with Sprint. In the LA area, it appears that Clearwire has increased coverage across the LA basin and Orange County, in most neighborhoods. Clearwire has been providing 4G in LA (More info...)

RingRevenue Sees Traction In Financial Services
Santa Barbara-based RingRevenue, the pay-per-call technology provider, says today that it has been seeing gains in the financial services industry with its platform. RingRevenue, which is headed by Jason Spievak, said it has seeing traction with affiliates in the financial services area. FastSpring Launches Subscription Management Service
Santa Barbara-based FastSpring, the e-commerce and payment processing software firm headed by Dan Engel, said this week that it has launched a new online subscription management and payment service called SaaSy. Engel said that the service is aimed at SaaS and Web 2.0 companies, to eliminate their need for maintaining their own e-commerce infrastructure. SocialVibe Gets $20M More
Los Angeles-based SocialVibe, the provider of social advertising software and technology, announced today that it has raised $20M in additional equity funding. The funding was led by Norwest Venture Partners, and also included Redpoint Ventures, Jafco Ventures, and Pinacle Ventures. MasterImage 3D Gets $15M From Samsung
Hollywood-based MasterImage 3D, a developer of 3D technology tools, announced today that it has raised $15M in a strategic investment from Samsung Ventures. MasterImage said it is developing technology for auto-stereoscopic 3D displays and 3D content creation tools for mobile devices, along with 3D cinema products. The firm's technology is used to create glasses-free 3D for mobile phones.

Ortiva Wireless In Alliance With RealNetworks
La Jolla-based Ortiva Wireless, which develops mobile video management and gateway products, and digital entertainment firm RealNetworks said today they are in a global business and technology alliance. According to the two, Real will add video optimization to its Helix Universal Media Server product line, based on Ortiva's technology. SRS Labs, Qualcomm Link On Surround Sound
Santa Ana-based SRS Labs said today that it has linked up with San Diego-based Qualcomm, to provide its audio technologies within Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipsets. Financial details of the licensing agreement were not disclosed. Peer Media Technologies Merges With Bay TSP
Los Angeles-based Peer Media Technologies, the anti-piracy firm which was formerly ArtistDirect, and content tracking and protectiom firm Bay TSP.com said Monday that they have signed an agreement to merge. Peer Media Technologies is headed by Dimitri Villard, and provides anti-piracy services targeted at peer-to-peer (P2P) networks. Financial details of the merger were not disclosed. EdgeCast, Media Temple Team On CDN Service
