CineForm Acquired By GoPro
Solana Beach-based CineForm, a developer of video compression technology, has been acquired by helmet-mounted camera firm GoPro. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. GoPro said that CineForm will become a division of the company, and continue to develop and support its products. CineForm will join its offices with GoPro's existing staff in San Diego. GoPro is based in Half Moon Bay, California, and was founded by UCSD graduate Nicholas Woodman.

Zumbox In Deal With Outsourcer
Westlake Village-based Zumbox, the provider of paperless billing and delivery systems run by John Payne, has inked a deal with 3i Infotech, a business process outsourcing firm focused on billing and payment handling. According to 3i Infotech, it has partnered with Zumbox to allow 3i's clients to send electronic bills and other customer communications via Zumbox's system. Inspiration Biopharmaceuticals Raises Funding To $247M
Laguna Nigel-based Inspiration Biopharmaceuticals, a developer of treatments for hemophilia, has raised its latest funding to $247.6M, according to a regulatory filing by the firm today. Details on the funding have not been announced by the company. The filing indicates that the firm received a new outside equity investment, non-equity exchanged for equity, an exchange of prior equity for new equity, plus convertible notes based on future milestones convertible into equity. Boingo Wireless Gets Netbook Preinstall Win
Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless, the operator of a network of Wi-Fi providers, has inked a pre-install deal with a software provider. Boingo and VideACE Technology Co. said today that the Boingo Wi-Fi app will be pre-installed on laptops and netbooks which use VideACE's InstantVidget, an "instant-on" software product which is available on ASUS and Lenovo netbooks. mobileStorm Personalizes App Promotion
Los Angeles-based mobileStorm, the mobile, SMS, email, and marketing firm headed by Jared Reitzen, has launched a new product to help its customers promote their mobile applications. According to the firm, its new mobileStorm App Accelerator uses information about current customers to tailor the promotion of a company's mobile applications to those users. mobileStorm says it identifies the operating system of devices used by current users in a company's database, and personalizes an SMS message (More info...)

UberMedia Updates UberSocial for iPhone
Pasadena-based UberMedia, the Idealab startup which is developing applications for reading and posting to Twitter, announced today that it has released a new version of UberSocial for the iPhone. The firm said that its new version, UberSocial 1.5, now provides a live preview features for tweets, new curated channels focused on news, entertainment, business, and sports; and more. TCA Trumpets Exits
The Tech Coast Angels, the biggest angel investment group in Southern California, is trumpeting its involvement in five exits in 2010 today. The Tech Coast Angels said that it saw a 78.75 percent IRR as part of its involvement in the Series D financing of Mind Body Partnerships. Contour Energy Expands Battery Line
Azusa-based Contour Energy Systems, the venture-backed battery developer spun out of research from Caltech, said today that it has added two new lithium batteries to its line of coin cells. The firm said the new 2016 and 2450 lithium coin cells are aimed at advanced and next generation portable electronics. Guidance Sofware Reveals Federal Customers
Pasadena-based Guidance Software, which develops digital forensics and electronic discovery software, revealed a big list of its federal government customers today, saying that the Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Energy (DOE), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Department of Justice (DOJ), Department of Treasury, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), United States Army, and Social Security Administration are all using the firm's software.
