StockTwits Takes On Investor Relations
San Diego-based StockTwits, the real-time messaging service focused on the stock investing community led by Howard Lindzon, is aiming at the investors relation community with a new service. The firm announced that it has launched a new suite of services for public corporations and investor relations professionals, which will allow them to disseminate, monitor, and measure news and information within StockTwits and Twitter. Yardi Systems Expands In Texas
Santa Barbara-based Yardi Systems, which develops property and real estate management software, is expanding its operations, in Dallas, according to a report Monday. Yardi has leased 45,000 square feet of space in Irving, Texas, with space for up to 300 employees, according to a report from the Dallas Morning News. Irving is a suburb of Dallas near the DFW airport. Yardi appears to be in an expansion phase, having acquired at least six competing or complimentary software companies in its industr (More info...)

Ambit Drops IPO Ambitions
San Diego-based Ambit Biosciences has dropped its IPO plans, according to the firm in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Tuesday afternoon. According to the withdrawal request from Ambit, the firm decided that "terms currently obtainable in the public marketplace are not sufficiently attractive" to proceed with the IPO. RightScale Launches Hybrid, Private Cloud Management Software
Santa Barbara-based RightScale, the cloud computing firm backed by Tenaya Capital, DAG Ventures, Benchmark Capital, Index Ventures, and Presidio Ventures, said Tuesday that it has launched a new product called RightScale myCloud. The firm said the new myCloud product provides a framework to allow organizations to test and develop private clouds, for free. Google Ramps Hiring In Irvine
Search engine giant Google appears to be ramping its hiring efforts in Irvine, according to representatives of the company. The firm said it grew the Irvine locations by more than 20 percent in 2010, and that this will be the firm's hiring year ever including its Southern California locations. Google said in January that it was expecting 2011 to be its biggest hiring year ever. Data.com Domain Goes For More than $1.5M
Proving that the market for the right domain name continues to be strong, Moniker and SnapNames, the domain name auction sites owned by Los Angeles-based Oversee.net, reported that they sold the domain Data.com for more than $1.5M on Friday. The firm said it sold the domain for an amount that "significantly exceeds" the $1.5M reserve that had been placed on the domain. No details on the buyer or financial terms were announced. StyleMint, the newest, celebrity e-commerce site being launched by Los Angeles-based BeachMint, is set to launch July 1st, according to details sent to supporters of the site. BeachMint, the startup headed by former MySpace co-founder Josh Berman, is launching StyleMint with celebrities Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen. Billionaire Soon Shiong Funds Healthcare Systems Developer
Los Angeles billionaire entrepreneur Patrick Soon Shiong has made an investment in a healthcare technology firm Net.Orange, Net.Orange said today. San Diego-based Assay Depot, a developer of cloud-based, pharmaceuticals research marketplace, said this morning that it has raised $1.7M in a funding round. Westlake Village-based Row 44, the provider of in-flight, broadband Wi-Fi equipment, has linked with Lufthansa Technik, the firms said Monday. SRS To Ship On Toshiba Tablet
