Postcard On The Run Raises $1.8M
Los Angeles-based Postcard On The Run, the developer of mobile apps which let people send their mobile phone photos to people as real, printed postcards, has raised $1.8M in an ongoing funding round, according to a regulatory filing from the company. The filing indicates the company is in the midst of raising $2.3M in a round. Postcard On The Run is the startup headed by former MySpace exec Josh Brooks. Stickam Debuts Premium Membership
Los Angeles-based live broadcasting site Stickam said this week that it has launched a new, VIP membership program, which will let users on the site better promote themselves. The site--which allows anyone with a web camera to broadcast their own, live video shows--said the new program will include better placement in guests lists of chat rooms, better visibility on the site, and an ad-free experience on the service. SendGrid Hiring In Anaheim
Cloud-based email delivery startup SendGrid, one of the companies out of the TechStars accelerator, said this week that it is accelerating hiring at the firm, including at the firm's Anaheim location. The startup--which is backed by Foundry Group, Highway 12 Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners and others--lists software engineering, big data, customer support, online marketing, and other positions in Anaheim, a location it added in August of last year. Sonos-Amazon Link Comes With Bonus: $10 For MP3s
If you are user of the Sonos wireless music systems, check your email. Sonos and Amazon.com announced a deal this morning which allows Sonos users to stream their music from Amazon's Cloud Music Player service, Amazon's cloud music storage service--which competes directly with Apple's iCloud online music and media storage service. Boingo Wins Raleigh-Durham Airport
Boingo Wireless said today that it has added Raleigh-Durham Airport (RDU) to its list of airports where it will manage and operate Wi-Fi services. Boingo said it had been selected by the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority to provide tiered, Wi-Fi services, which include both complimentary Wi-Fi services, as well as a premium Wi-Fi service with higher bandwidth and streaming video support. Sonos Ties Into Amazon Cloud Player
Sonos, the developer of wireless, whole-home audio systems which stream music from the Internet or your computer, has further extended its music service support to Amazon Cloud Player, the cloud music service of Amazon.com. REC Solar Gets Research Funding
REC Solar, the developer of solar modules and provider of solar installation services which has its U.S. headquarters in San Luis Obispo, said today that it has been selected to received $8.53M in grants from the Clean Energy Research Program (CERP), from the country of Singapore. Amgen Terminates Drug Trial After Failure
Thousand Oaks-based Amgen said late Wednesday that it has terminated a Phase 3 study of a drug it is developing to treat metastatic pancreatic cancer, after a recommendation by the independent committee overseeing the trial. The firm said the termination came, after the committee found that the company's ganitumab (AMG 479) compound was "unlikely to demonstrate a statistically significant improvement" in survival for patients.
