NationBuilder Rolls Out New Theme For Creative Pros
NationBuilder, the online provider of tools to help build out political campaigns, nonprofits, government, and business, is looking to make the company's tools more attractive to the creative set, saying this week that it has rolled out a new theme called "IndiePro". MediaPass Gets Win in Alabama
MediaPass, which develops online paywall software for newspapers and other publications, has scored another win today, saying that it has added Consolidated Publishing of Alabama as a customer. MediaPass said that Consolidated is using the MediaPass software for four of its online newspapers. MediaPass is helping publishers as paywalls on content have increasingly become more popular. WemoLab Launches Tablet App Around Ocean Education
Venice-based WemoLab--which has been developing entertainment products around an oceanic theme--announced today that it has launched its first, mobile product, a new interactive tablet app. The firm said its app, SuperFugu, let kids take a "field trip" around the world's ocean. Ambit Biosciences Sets Estimated IPO Range
San Diego-based Ambit Biosciences has set the estimated range for its IPO, saying in a filing today that it is expecting to offer 4,645,000 shares of its stock at between $13.00 and $15.00 per share. The firm has applied to list on the NASDAQ Global Market as AMBI. Ambit is backed by Apposite Healthcare Fund, Forward Ventures, GIMV, GrowthWorks, MedImmune Ventures, OrbiMed, Perseus-Soros Biopharmaceutical Fund, Roche, and others. Santa Monica-based social media marketing startup Fan Appz has tied its customer feedback and social media marketing product into Twitter, to better allow brands to interact with their fans and followers, the firm has announced. BYD To Open Manufacturing Facilities In Lancaster
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD said yesterday, along with the City of Lancaster, that BYD is opening up two new manufacturing facilities in the city. BYD, which makes rechargeable batteries and electric vehicles, said it will open up an electric bus manufacturing facility and battery manufacturing facility in the city in the coming months. Hyper-Therm HTC Acquired By Rolls-Royce
Huntington Beach-based Hyper-Therm High Temperature Composites (Hyper-Therm HTC), a producer of composite materials, has been acquired by Rolls-Royce, Rolls-Royce announced yesterday. Financail terms of the buy were not disclosed. Rolls-Royce said that Hyper-Therm HTC will become a wholly ownd subsidiary, and continue to be based in Huntington Beach.
