Emulex Steals Operations VP From QLogic
Costa Mesa-based Emulex said Monday that it has named a new VP of operations. According to the maker of storage and server network products, Perry Mulligan has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Operations. Mulligan was most recently SVP of Operations at crosstown rival QLogic, heading up operations, test engineering, supply chain management, IT and facilities management. Domain Associates: Fifth Investment With Rusnano From $760M Fund
San Diego-based venture investor Domain Associates is reporting today that a fifth company in its portfolio--ReVision Optics--has received funding via its agreement with Rusnano, the Russian state's investment corporation. Revision optics announced a $55M funding round this morning. Domain inked a deal with Rusnano to create a $760 million co-investment partnership, back in March of last year, as it sought to find a way to more reliably provide late stage capital to its portfolio companies. ReVision Optics Gets $55M For Vision Treatments
Lake Forest-based Revision Optics announced this morning that it has raised $55M in a new equity funding, for the company's implantable corneal inlay treatment for presbyopia. The company said the funding included Canaan Partners, ProQuest Investments, InterWest Partners and Domain Associates, as well as new investors Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation (JJDC) and RusnanoMedInvest (RMI). NationBuilder Adds Mac Editing Support
Los Angeles-based NationBuilder, the operator of the online service to help manage political campaigns, nonprofits, government organizations, and business outreach, has bolstered its support for the Mac. The company said over the weekend that it has launched a new Mac app, which helps designers synchronize their templates with the Mac. AeroVironment Gets FAA Approval On Commercial Drone Use
Monrovia-based unmanned aircraft maker Aerovironment said Friday that it has received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the use of one of its unmanned aircraft for commercial use. AeroVironment's Puma AE small unmanned aircraft--one of the company's hand-launched unmanned aircraft--can now be flown for commercial missions. aTyr Pharma Gets $10M In Venture Debt
San Diego-based aTyr Pharma, a developer of protein-based therapeutics, said today that it has raised $10M in a debt financing round. The funding came from Silicon Valley Bank. According to the company, the new funding will go towards clinical development of its first therapeutic program, which is aimed at treatments of rare autoimmune diseases and a rare disease pipeline in immune disorders. Local Corporation Sells Spreebird
Irvine-based Local Corporation is abandoning the daily deals market, saying this morning that it has sold its Spreebird daily deals business to nCrowd. Financial terms of the sale were not announced. Local Corporation said that nCrowd has acquired both the Spreebird business and all related assets, as the company has decided to exit from the direct SMB sales market. Infrascale Ties Into SharePoint
Los Angeles-based cloud storage provider Infrascale announced this morning that it has connected its enterprise collaboration tool, FileLocker, with Microsoft's popular SharePoint software.
