NRG Solar Opens Massive Solar Farm In Arizona
Carlsbad-based NRG Solar, the solar energy arm of NRG Energy, said Tuesday that it has opened what it says is the world's largest, photovoltaic energy facility in the world in Arizona. NRG said the Agua Caliente Solar Photovoltaic Facility is located midway between Yuma and Phoenix, Arizona, and has a capacity of 290 megawatts. The energy being produced at the plant is being provided to Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), and can power up to 230,000 homes at full capacity. The plant is located on 2,4 (More info...)

Boingo Wins University of Houston
Los Angeles-based wireless and cellular infrastructure provider Boingo Wireless said today that it has scored another wireless venue win, this time with the University of Houston. Boingo said it has been selected as the exclusive wireless network partner for the new Houston Football Stadium. Financial impact of the win was not announced. TeleSign Gets $40M
Los Angeles-based TeleSign, the developer of security and identification technology headed by serial entrepreneur Steve Jillings, has raised $40M in a Series B funding round, the company announced this morning. According to the company, the funding was led by Adams Street Partners, and also included March Capital Partners and Summit Partners. FreedomPop Brings Free Voice, Text, Data To iPhone
Los Angeles-based FreedomPop is expanding its free voice, texting, and data plans to the iPhone this morning, saying that it has added support for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 to its smartphone service plan. The company will offer up iPhone 5 devices for sale directly, and will allow existing, iPhone 4 device owners to bring their own devices to the plan. Makers Making The Sci-Fi Tricorder A Reality With VOXearch

NantHealth Raises $100M From Kuwait
Los Angeles-based health technology developer NantHealth, which was founded, backed, and is led by billionaire Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, said this morning that it has raised $100M in a funding round. The funding came from Kuwait's sovereign wealth fund, the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA). NantHealth is developing clinical decision support and other related systems, which are being aimed at enabling better patient care and reduced costs. Tealium Gets $20M More For Tag Management
San Diego-based tag management software developer Tealium announced this morning that it has raised an additional $20M in funding, from private equity investor Silver Lake Waterman. Tealium, which is led by Jeff Lunsford, said it plans to use the funding for global expansion. The company says it saw 120 percent revenue growth in Q1, and has signed up such customers as Kimberly-Clark, Carhartt, Wet Seal, and many others. BYD Rolls Out First Electric Bus In Lancaster
Chinese electric auto and bus maker BYD says it has rolled out its first, California-made electric bus, at a ceremony Tuesday with Governor Jerry Brown. BYD said it rolled out an all-electric, long-range, 40-foot rapid transit bus in a ceremony at its factory in Lancaster, where it says it expects to build its clean energy electric buses. BlackLine Systems Names Chief Revenue Officer
Los Angeles-based BlackLine Systems, which develops balance sheet, account reconcilation software for the enterprise, said today that it has named CHris Murphy as its new Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Murphy joins the company from Infor, where he had been Senior Vice President of Financial Solutions. BlackLine Systems said Murphy had helped grow Infor from $130M to nearly $3 billion in sales.
