Switching Concepts Acquired By X5 Solutions
Santa Monica-based Switching Concepts, a provider of turnkey telecom switching platforms, aimed at helping startup and existing telecommunications providers, has been acquired by X5 Solutions. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. X5 Solutions is based in Seattle, and is owned by private equity investor NewSpring Capital. X5 said the acquisition also helps it expand into the Los Angeles market, in addition to adding additional capacity and network infrastructure.

Vista Equity Sells Majority Of Websense To Raytheon
Vista Equity Partners---the private equity firm which as been gobbling up San Diego high tech companies and moving them to Texas--has agreed to sell 80 percent of Websense to defense company Raytheon, the three said today. The deal--which has been rumored since March--will combined Raytheon Cyber Products with Websense. The two said that Raytheon will invest $1.57 billion in net cash for majority ownership of a new company, to be made of those two parts. The deal has an enterprise value of $2.3 (More info...)

InAuth Finds $20M For Security Tools
Venice, California and London-based InAuth, a provider of mobile fraud prevention and mobile application security technology, recently raised $20M in a Series A funding round. The funding came from Bain Capital Ventures. Bain's Ben Nye will join the company's board. InAuth says its customers include large global banks, payment processors, e-commerce merchants, and health insurance companies. The company was founded in 2011, and is led by Lisa Stanton.

Newegg, Buybak Launch Tech Trade In, Ewaste Effort In LA
Los Angeles-based online electronics retailer Newegg and online product trade in provider Buybak announced this morning that it is launching a new, technology trade in initiative in the Los Angeles area, as part of Earth Day. According to the two, LA businesses witin 50 miles of Newegg's City of Industry based headquarters can turn in their electronic waste, for free, using Newegg's delivery vehicles. RealD Inks New Deal With Cinemark
Los Angeles-based 3D theater projection technology provider RealD said this morning that it has linked up with Cinemark Holdings, to install a new laser projection system in 20, Cinemark XD auditoriums. Financial impact of the deal were nt disclosed. RealD said it will install its new GS Cinema System across the United States and Latin America, in a mix of upgrades to existing auditoriums and new builds. RealD says its technology is now installed in more than 26,500 auditoriums worldwide.

Guidance Software Snags j2 Global, Idealab Vet
Pasadena-based Guidance Software said this morning that it has named Michael Harris as its new Chief Marketing Officer. Harris joins the company from j2 Global, where he had been Vice President, Products. Harris also has served at Idealab, Adapt Technologies, Yahoo's Overture Services Division, FileNET, and Stac Software. Guidance Software said Harris will lead all global marketing and product marketing for the company.
