Ring Scores $61.2M Funding Round For Home Security Expansion

Santa Monica-based Ring, the developer of the smartphone connected, video doorbell of the same name, has raised $61.2M in a big, Series C funding round this morning. The startup, led by Jamie Siminoff, said that the new funding round came from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Sir Richard Branson. As part of the big funding round, Ring also said it has announced a new product, the Ring Video Doorbell Pro. Ring said the new fudning will let it expand its line of smart video doorbells, and further its international presence. Ring is expanding its focus beyond just letting people monitor and answer their front door; the company says it is looking to expand with a line of products all focused on home security, letting consumers monitor all around their homes.
