    SMC Ships Powerline Adapters

Irvine-based SMC said this week that it is shipping a two new HomePlug 1.0 compatible products for home networking. The company's latest Turbo Powerline products integrate 802.11g wireless connectivity using existing electrical wiring to connect to a network. The devices connect existing Ethernet devices to power lines, so that users do not have to run wiring between rooms. The company's Turbo Powerline 802.11g Access Point is a wireless access point that connects directly to a networked power line. The devices support 85Mbps HomePlug communications speeds.
