Vativ Ships UTP 10GbE NIC
San Diego-based Gigabit Ethernet-over-copper silicon provider Vativ Technologies said this week that its 10 Gigabit Ethernet network interface card for CAT5e unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable is now available. The company's technology is available through Dynatem, a manufacturer of PCi and VMEbus modules to allow for high speed 10GbE on PCI-X. Vativ's DSP-based silicon is expected to make it much easier and cheaper to deploy 10Gb Ethernet, using existing wiring and without the requirement for fiber optic connections.
