    8e6 Targets K-12

Orange-based 8e6 Technologies, a developer of Internet filtering software and other products, said today that it has introduced a new web filtering product targeted at the K-12 market. The new product, Intelligent Footprint Technology, targets the use of anonymous proxies and social networking web sites such as MySpace in schools. According to 8e6, web proxies and proxy anonymizers, which use Internet proxy technology to get around security and content limitations, are used by students to bypass limits on Internet access at school. In addition, the firm said that many web proxy services are operated by hackers who use them to read usernames and passwords from users.
