    Conexant Buys Freescale Product Line

Newport Beach-based Conexant Systems disclosed this morning that it has signed a definitive agreement with Freescale Semiconductor, to buy Freescale's SigmaTel multi-function printer imaging lines. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Conexant said the deal will make it the leading provider of semiconductor for multi-function printers and facsimile imaging applications. Freescale's SigmaTel printer imaging product lines are single-chip products geared toward the MFP imaging market, and are used by printer manufacturers in the design of their products. The deal also includes Freescale's SigmaTel digital photo frame product lines, but does not include Freescale's multimedia applications processor technology. Conexant said that more than 50 Freescale employees will join the firm, out of Freescale's Waltham, Massachusetts location. Those employees will become part of Conexant's Imaging and PC Media (IPM) group.
