FirstElement Fuel Inks Deal With Air Liquide For Hydrogen Fuel Cell Network

Irvine-based FirstElement Fuel, a company developing a network of hydrogen fuel cell fueling stations, says it entered into an agreement with Air Liquide, where Air Liquide will invest more than $150M for a new liquid hydrogen production facility to supply FirstElement Fuel's hydrogen stations. According to FirstElement Fuel, the $150M investment by Air Liquide will go toward a long-term supply agreement for its True Zero hydrogen station program. FirstElement Fuel, led by founder and Ceo Joel Ewanick, runs the True Zero brand of retail hydrogen fueling stations. The company was founded in 2013. FirstElement Fuel says it has been financially assisted by California Energy Commission, Toyota, Honda, the South Coast AQMD, and the Bay Area AQMD so far. The startup said that Air Liquide has "signaled its intent" to make an equity investment into FirstElement Fuel as part of the agreement.
