    MySpace Expands Into Instant Messaging

Los Angeles-based MySpace said today that it has beta launched a new instant messaging service, MySpaceIM. The new service, which has been available to some users since last year, includes enhanced features such as seeing profiles of friends, ability to view video and pictures, along with the usual instant messaging and chat features. The new instant messaging feature competes against other instant messaging clients from Yahoo, AOL, and Microsoft. The firm said that the instant messaging client is the first in a series of enhanced products and services planned for the popular social networking site.
