AeA Orange County Honors Technology Companies
The Orange County Counil of the AeA announced the group's High Tech Awards winners yesterday, and presented awards to Autobytel, HireRight, TransDimension, D-Link, CMS Products, Emulex, Bitfone, FileNet, Endeavors Technology, and Ceradyne. The group also honored George Kurtz, CEO, Foundstone; L. George Klaus, President and CEO, Epicor Software; William Simpson, Managing Partner, Paul Hastings; and Theodore (Ted) J. Smith, Founder of FileNet Corporation for their achievements in the industry.

SYS Technologies Gains $750K SBIR
San Diego-based SYS Technologies (www.systechnologies.com) said yesterday that it has received a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the Naval Air Systems Command. The $750,000 grant will be used in the development of a decision support system for graphically visualizing progress towards readiness goals, and is a follow on to a Phase I SBIR grant which was completed by SYS. Syrrx Inks $178M Deal With Roche
San Diego-based Syrrx (www.syrrx.com) has signed a deal with drug maker Roche to develop drug candidates to treat cancer and type 2 diabetes. The strategic alliance calls for an upfront payment of cash and equity, and option payments which could total $178M if all product milestones are met. Qualcomm Ships Combo Camera, Wireless, GPS Chips, Signs Yahoo
San Diego-based Qualcomm (www.qualcomm.com) yesterday introduced three new chipsets that integrate a 6.0 megapixel digital camera, 3D graphics accceleration, GPS support, and on-board TV interface, and support for all major 3G wireless protocols. Citysearch, Overture In Deal
Pasadena-based Citysearch (www.citysearch.com) has entered into a deal with Overture Services (www.overture.com) to integrate Overture's sponsored search listings into Citysearch's ad inventory. Citysearch will include Overture's search listings within home services, professional services, and medical specialists categories where Citysearch has available ad inventory. Overture results will also appear above Citysearch editorial listings. Overture is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yahoo.
