Jazz Semiconductor Adds to Board
Newport Beach-based Jazz Semiconductor announced that R. Douglas Norby has joined the company's board of directors. Norby has been SVP and CFO of Tessera Technologies, Zambeel, and Novalux. He also served as EVP and CFO of LSI Logic. Jazz is focused on specialty semiconductor process technologies for analog and mixed-signal devices.

Tanner Upgrades Analog Simulation Tool
Pasadena-based Tanner EDA (www.tanner.com) announced that the company has added Bipolar Inter-Company (VBIC) bipolar junction transistor models into its T-Spice analog and mixed-signal IC simulation tool. The new support provides better simulation of SiGe devices, and is designed to better meet the needs of power and wireless/RF applications. The company said that the addition of the capabilities into its tool will give it greater access to the high-growth power and wireless design markets.

SMC Adds Leasing to Lineup
Irvine-based SMC Networks (www.smc.com) has created an interesting program for its channel partners, with the introduction of a leasing program. The new program allows resellers of SMC equipment to provide lease financing for SMC equipment, software, or services. The company said that the program only requires a simple application and also supports Master Lease agreements.

ZyXEL Ships Combo Wireless Adapter
Anaheim-based ZyXEL Communications (www.zyxel.com) has shipped a new, G-220 dual-mode wireless USB Adapter. The new adapter supports 802.11g, and connects to USB 2.0. According to the company, the product supports both client and access point (AP) functions into a single adapter, which allows for not only the connection into existing networks, but the creation of a wireless access point. Cell Provider Launches Speech Apps Based On V-Enable
Phonetic Systems, a provider of speech recognition solutions, and San Diego-based V-Enable (www.v-enable.com), announced that US Cellcular has launched two new speech-driven applications for their customers. US Cellular's SAY IT. BIZFINDER and SAY IT. TONEFINDER applications allow users to use voice commands to download information, directions, and ring tones from their cell phones. Continuous Computing Raises $15M
San Diego-based Continuous Computing announced that it has raised $15M from China Development Industrial Bank (CDIB), Harbinger Venture Management, and CDIB Ventures, as well as existing investors Technology Crossover Ventures, Intel Capital, Palomar Ventures, and Viterbi Group. Continuous is developing high availability platforms for telecom equipment manufacturers. The round brings the company's total funding to $45M.
