BakBone Launches Channel Program
San Diego-based backup software provider BakBone announced that it has launched a new channel program aimed at North American distributors and resellers of the company's software. The company reports that it is giving improved margins to its channel partners, as well as offering training, technical, sales, and marketing support to its channel partners.

ValueClick Adds VP
Santa Barbara-based ValueClick (www.valueclick.com) announced that John Locke has been appointed VP of Engineering at its Commission Junction subsidiary. Locke will lead Commission Junction's technology development efforts. Locke was most recently a business consultant, and prior to that was VP of Engineering at PulsePoint, a company which was acquired by Unisys. Locke is also on the faculty of the University of Phoenix.

Lynx Photonic Networks Introduces Optical Switch
Calabasas-based Lynx Photonic Networks (www.lynxpn.com) has introduced a new all-optical protection switch. The company's new LightLeader 3710 product supports long-haul wavelength services such as DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing). The company's switches all for all-optical switching of traffic, and are used to switch traffic from one fiber or optical path to another in the case of re-routing or failure of a fiber link.

Novatel Wireless, Lucent in European Deals
San Diego-based Novatel Wireless and Lucent Technologies announced that the two companies are supplying KPN in the Netherlands and E-Plus in Germany with 3G data cards jointly developed by the two companies. Lucent and Novatel have jointly developed the Merlin U530 Univeral Mobilt Telecommunications System PC Card Modems, which will be supplied to the European companies for the rollout of high-speed data services. AMCC Samples Network Processor to OEMs
San Diego-based AMCC (www.amcc.com) announced that its nP3700 integrated network processor and traffic manager is shipping in sample qualities to OEMs. The processors are used in communications equipment in the access, metro and core segments of the network. The company's network processing technology is designed to allow developers to finely control subscriber traffic on ATM and other communications networks.
