Arrowhead Research Appoints CFO
Pasadena-based Arrowhead Research announced that it has appointed Joseph T. (Ted) Kingsley as its Chief Financial Officer. Arrowhead is in the area of nanotechnology development and licensing. Kingsley was most recently VP and CFO of computational drug discovery platform provider Eidogen, and was VP Operations and CFO of Paracel, a provider of high-performance computer systems for life sciences.

Vivendi Universal Inks HD Interactive Deal
Los Angeles-based Vivendi Univerasl Games said today that it is in a global distribution agreement with HD Interactive to distribute the company's new PC-based, 3D tactical strategy space game Nexus The Jupiter Incident. VU Games will distribute the title across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific with exception of France, Spain, Italy, Benelux and Russia.

DivXNetworks Upgrades Mac Product Line
San Diego-based DivXNetworks has announced an upgraded version of its video compression software for the Mac. The company's DivX for Mac 5.2 product line adds easier creation of DivX files; an MP3 encoder for audio encoding; and the ability to create DivX video files for playback on any DivX consumer electornics device. Qualcomm Acquires Iridigm for $170M
San Diego-based Qualcomm today announced that it is acquiring Iridigm Display Corporation for $170M in cash. Iridigm develops display technologies based on Micro-Electro-Mechanical (MEMS) structures and thin film optics. The company's iMoD technology is expected to provide better performance, power consumption, and cost benefits for mobile phones and other portable devices.
