MySpace Tightens Security
Los Angeles-based MySpace has rolled out new safety and security features, responding to widespread concerns over the use of the social networking site by child predators. MySpace today said that it is adding additional features for 14-15 year old members, new privacy settings, and restrictions on ads sent to younger users. MySpace said that it will now require that any 18+ year old MySpace members to have the email address, or first and last name of members who are under 16 years old to connect (More info...)

ViaSat Buys Video Equipment Provider
Carlsbad-based ViaSat, a provider of satellite and wireless communications technology, has acquired El Cajon-based Enerdyne Technologies, a developer of video data link and digital video systems, the firm said today. The deal is worth $17M in cash and stock, plus $8.7M in earn out. Enerdyne provides video equipment for the defense and intelligence market, including for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) applications. Semtech Faces Delisting
Camarillo-based Semtech is facing a possible delisting on the Nasdaq, the company said today. Semtech said that it received a Staff Determination letter from the Nasdaq last week indicating that it is subject to delisting because it has not yet filed its Form 10-Q for the fiscal quarter ended April 30th. Semtech has requested a hearing from the Nasdaq. Semtech is one of the many semiconductor and technology firms that has been caught in a sweeping SEC inquiry over stock option grant practices. ClariPhy Opens Design Center in Argentina
Irvine-based ClariPhy Communications, a startup developing high speed communications ICs, announced today that it has opened an overseas design center in Argentina. The company said that it has opened a development center near the National University of Cordoba, to help it design and accelerate development of its 10Gbit/s mixed signal ICs. Siafu Launches iSCSI Appliances
Poway-based Siafu, a new startup in the storage arena, has shipped its first set of products. Siafu said today that it has launched its line of Swarm iSCSI storage appliances, targeted at providing iSCSI storage to users. The company is targeting Microsoft, Linux, Solaris, and NetWare operating systems with its hardware, with a focus on Microsoft iSCSI initiators. Siafu is headed by John Matze, former VP and CTO at Overland Storage.

HostedSupport.com Upgrades Support Solution for eBay Users
Los Angeles-based HostedSupport.com has upgraded its automated, online customer support software. The company said that it supports eBay v2.0, and that its software is now available to customers. eBay announced upgrades to its auction site last week, including blog capability, wikis, and Skype integration. eBay's annual conference was held in Las Vegas last week. Zag Taps Kelley Blue Book
Santa Monica-based Zag has tapped Kelley Blue Book to provide used auto information for the firm's new online auto-buying service. Zag said Tuesday that it will incorporate Kelley Blue Book data into its platform. Zag is developing a private label, turnkey product that allows automotive sites, auto dealers, and affinity buying groups to manage the online auto buying process. Digital Insight Inks Deal With Credit Unions
Calabasas-based Digital Insight said today that it has renewed and expanded agreements with two credit unions. Government Employees Credit Union of El Paso, Texas and TruWest Credit Union of Tempe, Arizona have both renewed their contracts with Digital Insight. The firm said that the agreements cover roughly 65,000 Internet Banking users through 2011.
