WebSideStory Becomes Visual Sciences
San Diego-based WebSideStory, a provider of web analytics applications, said Wednesday afternoon that the firm has changed its name to Visual Sciences, and consolidated under a single brand name. WebSideStory merged with Visual Sciences in February of last year, and have been maintaining dual brand names until now. VMIX Inks Promotion Deal With DIRECTV
El Segundo-based satellite TV provider DIRECTV and San Diego-based VMIX, an online video sharing web site, said today that VMIX will promote the DIRECTV show The Fizz through a new dedicated online channel. The new channel, which will be featured on the VMIX web site, will feature user-generated content which will both be available on the web site as well as used on DIRECTV's show. RE FormsNet Buys REBT
Los Angeles-based RE FormsNet, a maker of electronic form software for the real estate industry, said today that it has acquired Real Estate Business Technologics LLC (REBT). REBT is a maker of real estate transacation management software. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition of REBT grows RE FormsNet to nearly 60 employees between its Los Angeles headquarters and Detroit operations. Cogent Scores Win In Texas
South Pasadena-based Cogent Systems, a developer of fingerprint identification systems, said today that the Texas Health & Human Services Commission has selected the company's systems. The deal covers replacement of its existing systems for applicants and recipients of food stamps in the state of Texas. Cogent said that the deal is worth approximately $8M. Semtech Joins Low Power Wireless Initiative
Camarillo-based Semtech, a manufacturer of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, announced Wednesday that the firm is supporting the new ONE-NET development community for low-power wireless devices. Semtech said that its technology and expertise have controibuted to the development of the new standard, which is targeted at providing low-power wireless connectivity for residential and small business applications.
