Classmates Media Files For IPO
Woodland Hills-based United Online's wholly-owned subsidiary, Classmates Media, filed for an IPO Monday afternoon, looking to raise up to $125M in an IPO. The IPO is being underwritten by Goldman, Sachs & Co., JPMorgan, and Deutsche Bank Securities. Classmates operates an online social networking service cocused on connecting prior classmates from school, work, and the military; the operation also includes MyPoints, a loyalty marketing service. Steamboat Ventures Adds Laskey As Managing Director
Beau Laskey, a venture capitalist who was most recently with EDF Ventures in San Diego, has joined Steamboat Ventures, the venture capital arm of Disney. Laskey said in a email that he has joined Steamboat Ventures as a Managing Director. Laskey reports that Steamboat, which is based in Los Angeles, is currently investing $400M in digital media, content, and entertainment, along with "pick and shovel" infrastructure assets for the industry.

Buzznet Adds New Features
Hollywood-based Buzznet is announcing today that it has added new features to the firm's social media and networking web site. Continuous Computing, Mindspeed Partner
San Diego-based Continuous Computing and Newport Beach-based Mindspeed said yesterday that the two companies are in a strategic agreement to integrate the two companies' hardware and software. The two said that they are integrating Continuous Computing's Trillium software with Mindspeed's High-Level Data Link Controller, a hardware devices used for implementing voice-over-IP media gateways and other 3G wireless network equipment. Gumiyo Inks Link With AutoBase
Woodland Hills-based Gumiyo said this morning that it has inked a partnership with AutoBase.com, an online provider of inventory management for used car dealers. Gumiyo said that it will deliver Autobase's inventory of vehicle listings to mobile buyers. Gumiyo operates a classifieds alerts service designed for mobile phones. 8e6 Adds Enterprise Security Products
Orange, California-based 8e6 Technologies, a company which produces web filtering software, said Monday that it has made three new enterprise-level products generally available. The products include a proxy server blocker, a filtering client for laptops, and a monitoring applications. Jazz Semiconductor Gets Win At Nexsem
Newport Beach-based Jazz Semiconductor, a RF and analog chip foundry, has signed on Irvine's Nexsem as a customer of its foundry services. Jazz said yesterday that Nexsem is using the firm's 0.5-micron Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS for its power management ICs. Nexsem is designing step down converters used for power management products. Nexsem designs power related hardware ICs, including switching controllers, linear regulators, and drivers. Further details on the relationship were not released.
