GoTV Networks Partners With Gibson Guitar
Sherman Oaks-based mobile entertainment provider GoTV Networks said Thursday that it has partnered with Gibson Guitar, to feature musical artists and performances on a branded series called Gibson Green Room. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. GoTV said that it would produce the series, and distribute it across top tier mobile carriers. BiggerBoat.com Launches Entertainment Ad Network
BiggerBoat.com, the venture-backed search engine firm focused on the entertainment industry, said Thursday that it has launched an interactive, vertical advertising network exclusively focused on entertainment. N Spine Acquired By Synthes
San Diego-based N Spine, an angel backed firm developing medical devices for back surgery, has been acquired by Synthes. Synthes said that it would pay $30M for N Spine, with earn out worth up to $45M based on achievement of milestones and product sales. N Spine has received funding from the Life Science Angels and the Tech Coast Angels. According to Synthes, N Spine's organization and staff will remain in San Diego. N Spine's medical devices are used to treat lumbar spinal disorders.

Smith Micro Acquires Animation Titles
Aliso Viejo-based software publisher Smith Micro said Wednesday that it has inked a deal to acquire several 3D graphic and animation packages from e frontier. According to Smith Micro, it will pay $6M in cash in an asset deal for the rights to Poser, Anime Studio, and Manga Studio, three titles for the computer animation and 3D modeling market. DivX Buys MainConcept AG
San Diego-based DivX said Wednesday afternoon that it has acquired MainConcept AG, a developer of software for the H.264 video codec standard. The deal was worth $22M in cash and stock, plus up to $6M in earn out. MainConcept's video and audio codec is used in PCs, set-top boxes, mobile phones, and portable media players. YouMail Partners With Comedy Firm
Irvine-based YouMail, which is developing a customized replacement voice mail service, said today that it has partnered with Salient Media, a production and licensing firm in the comedy business. YouMail said that Salient's entertainers will offer exclusive, comedic voice mail greetings for YouMail.
